BIO
DARRYL EWING
Darryl began his communications career as a reporter with The Associated Press in Dallas before beginning a 15-year career in agency public relations and corporate communications.
During that time, he has worked with Edelman, one of the largest public relations agencies in the country, and regional independent agencies in Dallas and Houston, providing strategic media relations, marketing communications and PR expertise to accounts in health care, banking, education, financial services, technology, energy and gas, and nonprofits. On the corporate side, Darryl has worked with a number of senior executives in his communications role at Bank of America, Comerica Bank, Motorola and Houston-based Reliant Energy.
He has won the IABC Award of Excellence for creating an energy efficiency awareness program in honor of Earth Day at Reliant Energy. He also has taught reporting and editing as a lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston.
Darryl has served on the board of various educational and nonprofit organizations, including Austin Partners in Education and AIDS Services of Dallas. He has completed the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ Blueprint for Leadership program.
Darryl received his bachelor’s degree in newspaper journalism from the University of Texas and his master’s degree in journalism and political science from the Ohio State University, where he was a graduate school fellow and inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha, the journalism honors society.
